But where it really began was with Herr PRANGE c.1690, in a small village
near Bützow, Landkries Güstrow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin (northeast Germany, now
called Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). Two brothers, Hans
Heinrich and Jürgen Heinrich
PRANGE (later known as Henry and
John PRONG ) arrived in Canada
West (now Ontario), in 1856 and 1858, settling first near Paris, Brant
County, then moving to Cultus, Houghton Twp, Norfolk County before 1861,
thence to Bayham Township, Elgin County about 1863. Henry's family during
the succeeding years remained near Port Burwell, whereas John moved his
growing family to the Mount Salem area of Malahide Twp, except for a few years
sojourn to Plympton Twp, Lambton County. Descendants of these two families
have spread across the whole of North America and to other countries around
the world. A big THANK-YOU to all
my cousins who have submitted information and thereby making this project
more complete.
